Every year, Lone Star Circus runs two one-week day camps for kids who are interested in circus. I went for the first time when I was 7, when Slappy and Monday did it at the Palestra, before Lone Star did its summer camp. It’s what got me hooked on circus.
That was 8 summers ago — and I’m still hooked. Now I go to Circus Smirkus summer camp in Vermont. This will be my fourth year. But that doesn’t mean I don’t support Lone Star Circus.
The day camp they do here in Dallas is amazing for any kid who is new to circus. You don’t need any special skills — but you’ll have some by the time the week is over! It’s so much fun, and the teachers are wonderful.
Yes, that’s me — I think I had just turned 11, so it was four years ago — in the Facebook ad that Lone Star Circus is running for summer camp. I look so little in that photo!
If you’re looking for a fun place to spend some time this summer, Lone Star Circus summer camp is the place to start. It’s one of the least expensive day camps in town, and I can promise you’ll have a great time. Registration is open now, and it will fill up.

This is the home page where you can register for the Lone Star Circus Summer Camp for 2016.
